Auto Insurance Claims: 2 insurance companies, insurance companies in florida, personal vehicles

Question
I use 2 well known insurance companies in Florida. One for personal vehicles[100/300],one for a tractor/trailer I own[750 CSL],used as a business. I have tried to combine into 1 company, keeping current limits. The companies state they cannot do this, all vehicles covered for one polcyholder must be at the same limits, even if on different policies.Sound correct to you?

Answer
Hi Jody,

Yes. This is correct.  The basic reason for this is that if you were involved in a collision in the vehicle that has the lower limits, a sharp lawyer would find a way to force the insurance company to pay the higher limits.

I hope this helps.
