i have a 95nissan altima ,the overdrive is not engageing
the OD light does not come on is there a overdrive sensor

Pete,

There are a couple of things that have to happen to get the overdrive come on.  First, the car has to come up to operating temperature and then the load sensor has to see that the car is not loaded and then it will first go into overdrive and then the lockup torque converter will apply.  I would check the fuses first and then check for computer codes first.
