Auto Insurance Claims: Filing a claim, prior insurance, insurance companies

I have recently switched insurance companies; is it possible to file a claim with the insurance company I left for an accident that happened while they covered me?  What is the window for filing a claim against prior insurance companies?

Hi Jeff,

Yes.  It is possible to file a claim with a prior insurer for incidents that occured during the prior coverage. In most cases you are required to report all claims in a "timely mannor" but there is no real descripton of what that means. So if you have a claim, go ahead and file it.
