is the bolt pattern and shaft size the same on briggs and stratton and kawasaki

There are literally thousands of Briggs engine types and dozens of Kawasakis.  What you have to do is use the model, type and code number from the original engine and ask the supplier of your replacement engine to provide a model and type that matches.
