Auto Insurance Claims: Getting Car Repaired, handicap sign, rear view mirror

Question
My wife and I were out to lunch. We were backing out, my wife honked and everything and backed out of her stall, she was about halfway out when another car came into the parking lot about 20-30. All I saw coming at us was the Handicap sign on the rear view mirror. At the last second the car tried to avoid us and took my our bumper straight off. The driver of the other car was elderly and from my medical experience I assessed he shouldn't be driving a car.

Here's the problem..the bumper costs about $1,000 to fix. My wife DID NOT have insurance at the time of the accident she was between companies. What are my options to get the car fixed? If he doesn't want to pay out of pocket, what are my options to get payment?

Answer
Hi Fernando,

This is a tough one. If your wife was at fault you will have to pay for the damage to your car as well as the other car. If the other driver was at fault, his insurance will pay to repair your car.  You should call his insurance to make a claim for the damage to your car.

I hope this helps
