Auto Insurance Claims: claim statute of limitations, time between the time, personal obligations

Question
i was in a car accident and received an estimate from a claims adjuster, but due to work and personal obligations i haven't been able to take my car to the shop for the repairs.  is there a statute of limitations concerning the amount of time between the time of the accident and the time of the repairs?  i'm living in texas in case the statute varies from state to state.

Answer
Yes, the statute varies from state to state.  I'm only familiar with Georgia which is 4 years on property damage.

Unless you plan on waiting years, I would not worry about the statute.  What you will want to keep in mind is that the insurance company only owes for the part prices at the time of the original estimate (give or take a month or so within reason).  If there are part prices increases that occur after that, the difference could come out of your pocket.

Good luck!
