Comprehensive coverage on an auto policy covers many different items.  For example the following would be considered Comp Claims.  Hitting an animal, falling objects, vandalism, theft of the vehicle etc...  Comp is there to cover only those things that are listed in your policy where as collision is there to cover you if you collide with anything.  If you have any more questions let me know.
