Auto Insurance Claims: Rental Car, vacation trip, renting a car

Question
I plan on renting a car for a vacation trip.  Will my existing liability and comprehensive coverage cover the rental car?  Do I need to inform my existing insurance company of my plans to rent a car?   Any advice would be appreciated.

Answer
As the rental will be a "temporary substitute" ALL (1st and 3rd party) your coverages should "roll on" along with the appropraite deductibles, etc.  Might want to touch base with your agt just to make sure that your policy doesn't have any quirky part(s) that would nullify what I am saying.

Make sure you provide this info to the car rental company so they don't make you buy and pay for what would essentially be duplicate coverage(s)..
