I recharged my 2001 toyota echo with 134a refrigerant and the compressor is cliking and reving high and low?

Answer
Was it totally empty when you started charging it?  How much refrigerant did you put into it?  If there is air in the system the high pressure cut off switch will shut the compressor off, on, off, on.  If it was completely empty when you charged there is probably air in the system that needs to be purged.
