Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: AC problem, chevy z71, ac compressor

I have a 92 Chevy z71 blazer with a 5.7 motor  aC compressor won't  come on when you push ac button on dash where the indicator is on the dash to change from hot to cold air their is a ac indicator light that blinks on and off when you push the blue ac button

The blinking AC light is the programmers internal diagnostic ability to tell you there is a problem.  Most common problem would be low on refrigerant.  If you disconnect and reconnect battery and system blows moderately cool for 10 min and the light comes back on it is just low on refrigerant.  If compressor does not come on system is most likely empty.  

1. Check a verify refrigerant level
2. Fill/adjust as necessary
3. Reset programmer by disconnecting battery for 30 seconds

95 percent of these GM's are coming in like this with low refrigerant.  It is the programmers ability to protect the compressor from inadequate oiling as the oil travels through the system with the refrigerant flow.  No flow, no oiling...
