Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: AC Controls, fuse panel, fuse box

Question
So basically, I have a 2005 Chrysler 300C, I had the car off and I was using a power inverter to charge my laptop as I was doing some work. After about 30 minutes of using it, the power inverter turn off and I assumed it was the inverter, but later checked and it shorted the adapter in the car. While, I automatically knew it was the fuse, I just started using the one in the center console instead not for the laptop but rather to charge my phone. Well, that one blew. I located the fuse panel in the rear of the car and changed out both fuses with the 20 amps it required, but now it no longer powers the chargers while the vehicle is off. Since, the short, now I have multiple fuses that keeps blowing, the fuse that controls the motorized steering wheel blew, which on the same fuse controls the fronts windows, wipers, blinkers and a few other things. I replaced that one and now the ac controls doesn't work. The lights will light up, but the buttons associated with them won't control anything which includes the defroster, the circulation button and ac or fan controls. Subsequently now the airbag light came on as well. I replaced all the fuses in the rear power distribution center and when I went to do the same for the front, i found the fuse box cover open, could having that open melt the fuses or could my problem be a relay, if so which relay or fuse controls the ac panel? BTW, after replacing the 40 amp that controls the steering wheel, windows, etc, all those started working again except the auto down feature.

Thank you

Answer
Hello
We are a uk company with no specialised knowledge of your vehicle, however it does sound as if something is running to earth.
We have seen a few electrical issues on these and noticed that the 12 volt supply you are plugged in to works sometimes and not others.
The fact that your front fuse box was open already could be an indication that some investigation work has been done already. An open fuse box can let in water of course.
It does sound like you are shorting out behind your dashboard though. Inverters do generate a fair amount of heat.
There is no wiring diagram available from Chrysler here in the Uk so I am unable to help you further
I would suggest asking the main dealer to plug it in to their diagnostic. It will show a multitude of faults at first. Some of these they will be able to erase and thIs should help narrow down the reason for the failure.

PPS. I have been out to a Chrysler 300 today with similar but not identical issues. The problem has been caused by a blocked evaporator drain tube. When it is clear this allows the surplus moisture from the a/c evaporator to drain out of the vehicle and form a pool of water under the car
When it is blocked, as in the case today the water backs up and floods the passenger side with water.
Water had found it's way down the trim gutters and landed on the cigar lighter feed. Corrosion was evident
