Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Heat/air, Heater blower problems

Question
I have a 2004 Silverado SS & the heat or air only blows out of the defrost. I've replaced the actuator under the dash on the passenger side & also replaced the controls. What should i try next?

Answer
Hello and sorry for the delay in replying.
We are a UK based company and have no experience of your vehicle type, however,it is a similar problem to vehicles we see here and the following may guide you.

1 /Is the air coming out of the demist vents an equal temperature on both sides

2 /Does the air conditioning compressor engage when you set it to defrost

3 /When you try to change the direction of the airflow can you hear a clicking noise behind
the dashboard

4 /when you try to change the direction of the airflow does it stop coming out of the demist but still go somewhere else or does the fan stop altogether

5 /Have you had a diagnostic report from a main dealer, local garages may have diagnostic equipment which can be plugged in to the vehicle management system but either read it inaccurately or not at all

Have you visited any owner club sites for your particular type of vehicle, I do this a lot and there is usually someone else with the same problem that has found a solution
Also try keying in to Google various search terms that mirror the problem

May I suggest you print this off and take it with you to the vehicle and work your way through it
making notes to email a response to me.The questions are spaced to leave space for notes
Once all these checks are complete I may be able to narrow the problem down a bit more if you are unsuccessful elsewhere
