Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: AC compressor failure, compressor failure, suzuki xl 7

Question
Hi,
I have owned a 2001 Suzuki XL-7 for about four years.  I have had the AC compressor replaced twice.  The AC and defroster operates okay for several months, then the belt starts to squeal because the compressor has seized.  I have not replaced any receiver/dryer or condensor parts. This is getting expensive.  Any suggestions?
Thanks

Answer
HI Jeff

You must replace the drier and condenser although expensive in the long run it is cheaper than replacing the compressor every two years or so.  Sorry but the condenser is the problem and your drier should have been replace also.  Remember your drier is your filter and that is contaminated by now.  Make sure your expansion valve is not stuck.  If you have doubts just spend an extra 30.00 and replace it also.  In my shop we replace compressor, drier and expansion valve every time and the vehicles do not come back for a long time.  Most of the time much later with another problem but not a compressor failure.
