BMW: Brake lights, brake light switch, lid seal

Question
Josh,
I read your response to an earlier brake lights not working question.  I'm pretty sure my problem roots at the brake light sensor on the pedal. Do I take it off and buy a new one.  Is there a way to repair it.

I also have water in my trunk, under the battery.  I'm getting a volt reader soon.  Bulb connetors look  decent enough to be not causing the problem.

Thanks

Michael

Answer
Micheal,
I suppose the brake light switch could be repaired, as long as it's not damaged badly.  It's probably the contacts inside the switch, as they become corroded some times.
The water in the trunk is a common problem, and usually it's because of the antenna seal, brake light seals, or the trunk lid seal.

 Hope this helps,
 Josh
