Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: no power to a/c, chevy pickup, c button

Question
I have a 1996 chevy pickup and right under the a/c-heater controls there are two push buttons one is for recirculating and the other is the a/c button. Both buttons are supposed to be lit when pushed, but are not lighting up. the blower motor runs and blows to the floor. I checked the fuses inside and under the hood and all appear to be ok. i checked to see if i was getting power to the compressor and i am not. Are there any other places i can check to see why i'm not getting power to the system.

Answer
Hi Frank

Start by checking to see if you have refrigerant in system.  If you do then check your cycling switch located at the accumulator.  If you don't have refrigerant then add some and your compressor should start up.  Don't worry about the lights they tend to go bad.  You can check your buttons by turning on your blower and the hit the recirculate button you will here your blower become stronger if that happens your switch is OK.  If it does not and you also have refrigerant and your cycling switch is OK.  Then your control is bad.  Good luck and let me know.
