Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: auto a/c compressor, 1997 ford taurus, ford taurus

Question
I have a 1997 Ford Taurus and the air compressor went out and we got a new one and the accumulator and installed them. We can not get the compressor to kick on.  We have used to wires to trip the little thing in the front by the radiator overflow thing.  Where does the compressor get it's power from?  We have checked all fuses and everything is just fine.

97 Taurus LX A/C Schem
Alvin,
If you used two wires to jump the switch... you jumped the wrong switch. On the Taurus, the low pressure switch is located in the right front of the engine compartment behind the headlight. It will have a purple and a red wire/yellow stripe connected to it. If you jump this switch, your compressor should engage. Try it, if it doesn't then I will gladly walk you through the entire wiring schematic for the clutch. I am going to try to attach the schematic to this answer, hopefully it will come through and you will be able to use it.
Thank you for your question, I hope I was of some assistance. If I can do more to assist either now or in the future, please do not hesitate to ask. If you found this answer at all helpful, please remember to rate this answer. Thanks again and good luck in everything.
