Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: adding freon, ford aerostar, 1994 ford aerostar

Question
I am trying to inject more freon to a 1994 ford aerostar.  usually there are two tubes to access.  As I tried to add the can of freon I realized it took a while.  Is there another tube that will make this process easier and faster?

Answer
Ricardo,
Yes there are two ports to access the system. A low side and high side. But if you bought a refill kit from autozone or wherever it may be, it will only fit on your low side.
A couple ideas to speed up the process. Heat the can up in warm water. (NOT an open flame) Heat and pressure are relative. If you raise the temperature of the refrigerant in the can, the pressure in the can will rise also. The higher the pressure in the can, the quicker it will go into the system.
If your compressor is not engaging... locate your low pressure switch. This should me mounted on on your accumulator. Unplug the harness plug from it and with a small insulated wire, jump the terminals in this plug. This should engage your compressor clutch. With the car running and the compressor turning this will cause the pressure in your low side line to drop lower than if it was not on. This will allow the pressure in the can to migrate into the system quicker. Just remember to reconnect this switch when you are finished. This is a vital safety component that will prevent extensive damage to your system in the event of a low pressure situation.

Thank you for your question and I hope I was of some assistance. If I can do anything further now or in the future, do not hesitate to ask. If you found this response useful please remember to rate this answer. Thanks again and good luck in everything.
