Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1995 Chevy S-10 A.C. works off and on, loose connection, wd 40

Question
I don't have a lotttt of info, and I can hardly be descriptive, but I'm not asking for much. In my truck the air conditioning works fine, when it kicks on, and blows beautiful, cold air. The problem is that it doesn't always turn on. Sometimes when I hit a pothole or a bump (working on the suspension in the next few days, someone thought it would be cool to lower it and now it doesn't ride well at all) it kicks off, or if it wasn't working initially sometimes it will turn on. I can turn the truck on, with the AC on Normal or Max, it doesn't seem to matter, and it will blow air, but not cool, and you won't hear the actual noise of it kicking on, I guess. But, I can turn the ac off, sometimes, and then back to normal or max, and it will kick on. Also, with the car and AC on, it's possible to jiggle the plug and have it kick on.. not always.  My dad sprayed inside it with WD-40 (I believe) in an attempt to trouble shoot it. No effect (It didn't kick back on for a few minutes, attributing it to just bad luck). Maybe I'm asking the wrong person, but I don't have a long time until I'm off to college and I don't have the resources or money to get it checked out professionally.  Any tips would be very appreciated.. Thanks =)

Answer
Sean,
What plug do you jiggle to make it work? It sounds as though there is a loose connection somewhere, and it is probably in the vicinity of the plug you are speaking of. I say loose connection above all else, because you state your truck is lowered. This not only wreaks havoc on all of the suspension, but the wiring plugs will also beign to loosen up with all of the jouncing around.
I would first concentrate my efforts there in the plug area that you are referring to, from there I would move to the underhood relay box, and make certain that your A/C clutch relay is seated in the socket securely.
If all of this checks out, I would also check your ground wire coming from the compressor clutch itself. It could be that through all of the vibration and bouncing, it no longer is making a good contact with the ground.
And as a last check, I would open up the control head itself and make certain that the boards within it are not broken in any area. It could be that your circuit board is slightly cracked and breaks the connection until it gets jostled around again and makes connection.
Sorry I couldn't do more fo ryou than this, but without the truck here in front of me, as intermittent as your problem is, there is only so much that I can do.
Thank you for your question, and if I was of any help at all, please remember to rate this answer. If I can be of any further assistance now or in the future, do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again and good luck in everything.
