Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 96 Grand Caravan front evaporator, grand caravan, uestion

Question
I have a leak in the front evaporator of my '96 Grand Caravan SE. Put 2lbs of 134 into the system and turned the system on. Strong odor of refrig oil leads me to believe the leak is in the front evaporator. Any suggestions on pulling the dash to replace the evaporator? Do I need to call and airbag speclst to remove the pax airbag 1st? I am concerned about spending $1500+ to swap out the evaporator from a repair shop- but I need to get this fixed as inexpensively as possible. Could I attack the evaporator from the floor?

Answer
Sam,
You would be fine to attack it from the floor. The airbag should not have to be rmoved.
I had this same uestion about a week ago, looked it up on my online repair manual service, copy and pasted all of the instructions into a powerpoint file. If you would like me to send this your way, just give me your email address in a follow-up, just make sure to mark it as private so the world doesn't get it.
Thank you for your uestion and I await your address.
