Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: ac vent problems, electrical signals, harness connector

Question
my ac on96 mustang 3.8 motor quit blowing out vents and only blows out defrost vents now ,can you tell me why ,thank you

Answer
Bobby,
Your ventilation doors are activated by means of a vaccuum system. Dependant upon where you set the selector switch a vaccuum is pulled on different doors to open and close them changing the direction of the airflow. All of your individual lines are connected into a single vaccuum harness connector. I am looking at your vaccuum schematic now and from what you are saying... the only vaccuum that is getting pulled is getting pulled on your blue vaccuum hose. your yellow, red, and white hoses are receiving nothing. This could be due to a faulty vaccuum harness connector. It is not switching the vaccuum to the lines it should, or more likely... it is not receiving the correct input signals from your selector switch itself.
Your selector switch sends electrical signals/voltage to the harness connector making it change lines being opened/closed.
This is the first item I would have checked out. And if this proves good, the only other option is the vaccuum harness connector. Either it is faulty and not changing the directionof the vaccuum... or the red, yellow, and blue lines have all come unplugged or developed leaks in them that do not allow a vaccuum to be pulled. (not likely)

I hope this has helped you out a little. I wish I could do more, but there is only so much I can do through a computer monitor. This should lead you in the right direction though. If I can do anything further now or in the future to assist, do not hesitate to ask. Thank you for the question, and please remember to rate this answer. Good luck to you in everything.
