Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: HEATER CORE, 2000 ford expidition, coolant hose

Question
HOW DOW I REPLACE A HEATER CORE FOR A 2000 FORD EXPIDITION OR CAN I BYPASS IT IF SO HOW DO I DO THAT.

Answer
Isaac,
I feel for you. I have a 99 expedition, and for almost 200,000 miles, I have put about 300 bucks into it for parts. Love the truck. But the job you have ahead of you I do not want to do again. If you want to bypass it, it is possible, but come winter time you will regret the decision. That is as easy as taking two rubber hoses, and rerouting the coolant flowing through the lines heading into the cab of the truck. Take a rubber coolant hose, I can't remember for certain, but I believe they are 1" lines and connect the two lines flowing to the heater core in the engine compartment together. The do the same to the lines coming out of the firewall. That will completely bypass the heater core. But again I discourage you from doing this. Not only will you freeze in the winter, but it may also affect your engine operating temperature slightly.
Now to do it right... I have a subscription to chilton's online, and I am going to copy and past their instructions here, simply becasue it is fairly in-depth for me to sit and type. I am sorry but this website does not have the capability for me to do the pictures also. If you send me an email address, I'll see if I can send you those also. But make sure you post that one as private, so it isn't out there for the world to see. I would hate to get blamed for you getting a bunch of spam mail. LOL. Anywyas, I forewarn you... you have a pretty good job ahead of you.
