Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 air conditioning problem, dodge ram 1500, engine fan

Question
I have a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500 with an air condition problem. The air conditioner works great when you first start the truck, and continues to work until the truck engine gets to normal running temperature. After that, the compressor quits running. However, if you turn the truck off and let the truck engine cools down the air conditioner starts working again. Do you know what might cause this?

Answer
Joe,
As much as I hate answering a question with another question, I need a little bit of information.
Does the A/C work while the vehicle is in motion? Slow 0-20mph speeds? above 20mph? Is your condensor fan motor working, or if your condensor fan is the same as your engine fan, is it working as it should? After the A/C quits, if the engine idles, does it come back on?
I ask these questions because I believe the issue may be with your high pressure switch, and these are typically the types of things that could cause high pressure, shutting down your compressor.
If you could get back with me with these answers, also if at all possible your high and low side pressures, as the vehicle is warming up, and warm before the compressor disengages. That alone would tell me alot.
Thanks, and I await your followup.
