Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Tauras A/C, worst case scenarios, auto repair shop

Question
Mr. Texeira,
I have a nice 99 Tauras with 46000 miles. A few weeks ago the AC quit cooling. I took it to a general auto repair shop and he put it under vacuum and said it had a leak. He suggested he evacuate the system and add a "sealer" and recharge. It cooled for about two weeks. I let him add one more can of 134a and it cooled for about 10 days.
I went to speak with a private AC repair shop. He said he will need to evacuate and recharge with dye. This will cost $82. I am to drive around a few days and come back for diagnosis and repair estimate.
What are the best and worst case scenarios? Is there any chance the leak could be repaired without a major repair bill?
   Thank-you for your answer.

Answer
HI DAN , TO BAD NO ONE HAS FOUND THE LEAKS FIRST.SEEMS LIKE EVERYONE WHAT`S TO COLLECT BUT NOT FIX IT CORRECTLY.
I CAN TELL FROM EXPERIENCE W/ FORDS THAT THE EVAPORATOR COIL IS A BIG LEAKER.COST TO REPAIR IS ABOUT 1500.00. DYES ARE ONLY GOOD WHEN YOU CAN SEE IT.NOT ALWAYS RELIABLE.
SNIFF LEAK DETECTORS ARE ALWAYS USED.I`D BANK MONEY ON THAT EVAP.YOUR DECISION SIR?..

GOOD LUCK
