Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Honda Civic Air Conditioner Problem, speed sensors, honda civic ex

Question
Greetings!  I own a 2000 Honda Civic EX.  My A/C seems to only blow out cold air when the car is moving.  When I stop at a light, it only blows warm air (outside temperature).  What could cause this problem?  Thanks in advance.

Answer
HELLO SHAWN,IF YOUR IDLE IS TOO LOW THE CIRCUIT TO THE COMPRESSOR WILL SHUT OFF THE COMPRESSOR TO PREVENT THE CAR FROM STALLING OUT BECAUSE OF DRAG ON THE COMPRESSOR.SOME COMPRESSOR HAVE SPEED SENSORS THAT CONTROL THAT.IN PARK, RAISE THE IDLE ABOVE 800RPM AND SEE IF THE COMPRESSOR COMES ON.THEN BACK OFF,IF THE IDLE IS BELOW 5 OR 600RPM IT MAY STOP THE COMPRESSOR.YOU MAY HAVE A IDLE CONTROL ISSUE.
