what is your recommendation for an individual that works on his own cars -- on Ebay what type detector -- sniffer or UV light -- any input on the best cheap kind

I don`t buy cheap because I need reliability and accuracy.
UV detectors are good only where your eyes can see the dye.
Sniffer are good where it can`t. A good sniffer can start @250.00  /  uv kits @ 400.00. It`s all in what you want. my motto is, you buy cheap you get cheap.
