What is a electronic heater control module ? I have a 97 monte carlo and it stopped blowing air through the vents that come out right at you. I was told this is a specialty part and can only be ordered through chevy. Can I buy this part myself ?

This device controls the speed of the blower fan. Yes you can order one thru a Chevy dealer as they are most likely a DEALER ITEM ONLY. They are NOT cheap. expect to shell out about $125.00 for it.

Before you go replacing it, You had better determine what caused it to fail FIRST. If you DO NOT and you plug in the new one you will very likely destroy the new one.

The most common failure of this component is a faulty blower fan that is drawing to much amperage from the module thus causing it to fail.

If your diagnostics reveals no other problem(s) within the companion components, Replace the module and the blower motor.
