Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 97 Nissan Altima problems, nissan altima, vacuum pump

Question
I have a 97 Nissan Altima. When it gets hot outside, it starts off blowing cold air but then it gradually turns warm. If I turn off the ac for several minutes and turn it back on, it starts to blow cold air again. At night when it is cooler outside I do not have this problem. I've bought a can of freon that had the gauges on it and the pressure appeared to be fine. Can these gauges accurately tell how much freon you have in your system?

Answer
You could have atmospheric air in the system. I would suggest that you get the system serviced by removing all the old freon, using a vacuum pump to pump out all the air , Check for leaks and recharge the system. I would also recommend replacing the orifice tube while all the freon is out of the system.
