Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: recharging A-C, r 134a refrigerant, olds cutlass

Question
My question involves recharging my A-C system on an Olds Cutlass Curiser station wagon 1994 6 cylinder. I did have the system pressured checked late this past summer and they kept the pressure on for almost an hour while they did some other work on the car. Since it was already starting to get cool out I didn't have them do the recharging at that time. I should have looked a little closer when they were doing it to see where the pressure lines were. I have the kit and feron R134a. The kit says to use the low pressure side line, and that it has a blue or black cap. When I look under the hood I find two lines both with black caps. My Chilton manual does not have a diagram to show me which is the low side. The first line is at the front of the car and sets lower than the line at the back of the engine compartment. I know the high side is by the condencer and the low near the dyer/receiver, but what I dont know is what the condencer looks like or what the reciever/dryer looks like. I'm assuming the one toward the front is the correct one but not sure so I'd thought I'd ask someone. Is there a chance you might have a diagram or picture of the engine compartment or know of somewhere on the internet where I get get a diagram?  Thanks Sandi

Answer
You are going to need a vacuum pump, A set of A/C gages, several cans of flushing agent, calculate out the amount of R-134a refrigerant oil that needs to be added to the used compressor and to the new receiver/drier that you MUST put on.

I STRONGLY recommend that you do NOT try this retro-fit as you can get injured by the high pressure freon of which can severly freeze your fingers and your eyes if you make a mistake.

PLEASE do NOT try this by yourself. Get professional help.
