Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 95 Jeep Cherokee AC howls., compressor head pressure, r 134a

Question
Hi! I have a 95 jeep cherokee that recently begun to discharge less cool air from the outlets,(it worked fine for years),I noticed also that the clutch did not cycle,it was engaged all the time with the AC on,so I decided to follow the simple solution and added to it a can of R-134a and about 4 oz. of ref. oil.By the way, I found a little leak and fix it.Now it cools fine, but tne compressor stays engaged all the time, and there is a loud howling in the little metal box where the ac lines go into the firewall.
Any sugestions? Thank You Very Much

Answer
You should have NEVER installed refrigerant oil in the system. The maximum amount that the WHOLE SYSTEM uses is 6 or 7 ounces.

You have overcharged the system with oil which causes excessive compressor head pressure as well as clogging up the orifice tube (expansion valve) which is most likely what is causing your howl.

Usually you do NOT have to add any refrigerant oil when a small leak is found. How much to add depends upon the size of the leak. In your case I would have NOT installed anymore than 1/4 of an ounce.
