Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1992 buick park ave air conditioning system, electronic leak detector, buick park ave

Question
Hi,

I just bought a used 1992 buick park ave and I noticed as soon as I got it home and turned on the air, all that blows out is hot air. I let it run for quite awhile thinking it needed to get going for a minute before the cold air would blow and it didn't. I was told it may be the freon. Can you tell me what you think and if I need freon is it expensive for an older car? Thanks

Answer
The ONLY way to tell if it needs freon is to put a set of AC gages on the system and see what the pressures are at.

If it does need freon, You most likely have a leak somewhere in the system where an electronic leak detector will need to be utilized to find the leak.
