Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Auto Climate Control, hood latch, gmc envoy

Question
Good afternoon. I have an A/C problem that I hope you can help me with. I have an '02 GMC Envoy with auto climate control. The external air temp on the display is reading -35 so naturally the heat is running and not the A/C. Is there any way to reset the temp sensor so the A/C will start working? Being in NM, the heater running in June is not a good thing! Thanks

Answer
Disconnect  the external air temp 2 wire connector from the sensor usually located near the front of the vehicle near the hood latch.

Using a DIGITAL OHM METER meaurse the resistance acroos the 2 terminals of the sensor. NOT the wires IN the 2 wire wiring connector. You should have an ohms reading of between 2500 ohms to 11200 ohms. If NOT, replace the sensor.

This is the ONLY manual test that you can perform. All of the other tests require a SPECIAL SCANNER of which your dealer has.
