I have a 1988 Caddilac Eldorado with an air condition problem.  It tells me that I have low refrigerent.  I had it serviced and it still will not work.  They tell me that I need a new BCM.  I plan to install a new one but I would like to check out the pressure switch first.  Can you tell me where the switch is located and a good way to check and make sure that the switch is not bad.  When I reboot the computer the air conditioner with work for about 25 miles and then it tells me that it is turning off the compresser because my refri. is too low.
Thank You
Bill

You need to put a set of A/C gages on the system to verify if in fact you do have LOW REFRIGERANT (freon).

That has been done 3 different times.  It always come back that the A/C is working fine.  Compresser is working as it should and the R12 is at full charge.  The computer checks out fine.  There is a (TSB) , what ever that is, That says that if you have is problem replace the BCM, and the A/C presser switch.

Answer
OK, A TSB is the manufacturers abbreviation for a TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN.

There are usually 3 possible pressure switches:

A LOW pressure switch.
a HIGH pressure switch
A pressure cycling switch.

The MOST COMMON fault is the PRESSURE CYCLING SWITCH. These are available at most auto parts stores.
