Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: A/C Compressor, olds bravada, serpentine belt

Question
I have a 97 Olds Bravada W/80,000 Miles. I have been told I need a new A/C Compressor. Can this be changed by my self? It seems to only need the following. Loosen the serpentine belt, undo 4 screws holding the compressor to the frame. and then disconneting the hoses. After replacement I know I will need to take it somewhere for it to be recharged and oil added. Or does it seem to easy to believe. I Do not have a collection system.

Answer
It is NOT that simple. Compressor internal failure in most cases puts particles in the A/C system of which will need to be flushed out and the orfice tube and accumulator replaced as well as evacuating the system, Installing EXACT refrigerant oila nd freon back into the system.
