Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1987 Olds Delta 88 heater, oldsmobile delta 88, vacuum source

Question
We have a 1987 oldsmobile delta 88.  The heater blows only cold air.  Do you think this is the blend door motor?  If so, where is it located?  If not, what else could it be?  We just bought the car and the previous owner said it worked fine last year.  please help!

Answer
OK, You have a very common fault of which is caused by one of the following:

1. The WATER VALVE that is attached to the heater hose on the engine is faulty and or has lost it's vacuum source.

2. The A/C-HEATER PROGRAMMER has failed which is located behind the glove box inside the vehicle and or it has lost it's vacuum source.

3. The VACUUM VALVE SELECTOR has failed of which is mounted inside of the A/C-HEATER CONTROL HEAD which is where you operate the levers from in selecting your heater or A/C system.

I can supply you with pictures of these components showing you exactly where they are located and the procedures to test each component.
