Hello, I have a 2000 Chevy Blazer with 4.3 V-6. I have heat intill you start moving then it goes away. I have replaced the thromastat still does the same. Could it be the heater core? If so how hard is it to do? What are the steps? I would like to try it myself.

        Thanks

What is the current mileage ?> Are you SURE that the coolant level is FULL when the vehicle is at normal operating temp ?.

Have you experienced ANY overheating sine you bought it NEW ?>

Heater Core ?. Doubtful.

REplace it yourself. FOOLISH if you never changed one.

Current mileage is 75402 Bought it used with 12000 miles have never over heated in 2 years that ive had it water pump was leaking replaced it coolant level is good Im confused?

Answer
Although it sounds like CAN'T BE, I have seen where the serpentine belt was installed incorrectly and was actually turning the water pump BACKWARDS.

I have also see on some vehicles where there a 2 proosible pumps, One for a serpentine belt and one for the olde "V" belt and the pulley mounted onto the pump OK, But it turned the pump in the WRONG direction.

Did you verify that your pump turned in the correct direction PRIOR to installation ?. Probably NOT.

Did you mATCH the impellers on the pumps so they looked IDENTICAL ?.

Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE that you do not have a coolant leak ANYWHERE ?. INTERNALLY OR EXTERNALLY ?>

Have you tried BACK FLUSHING THE HEATER CORE to see if ANY debris comes out ?>

If you GET debris from the haeter core, Remove the radiator from the vehicle and BACK FLUSH the ENTIRE coolaning system chambers in the engine and IF the heater core BAC FLUSHES OK, Install a NEW radiator. Do NOT had your's CLEANED, RODDED, FLUSHED and or reconditioned, BUY a NEW ONE.

Don't forget to remove your thermostat during the back flush of the engine.
