Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 1993 All Original Z28 Leaking AC System?, electronic leak detector, camaro z28

Question
I have a 1993 Camaro Z28 and I have not done anything to maintain the AC system other than add R134 as needed.  I noticed about 6 years ago, that I needed to really start adding some R134, but if I added a small can, it lasted a summer, then I'd add another the next summer.

As you can guess, this has gotten progressively worse over the years.  There's 168,000 miles on the car and I know the compressor and clutch still works because I can add R134 to it today and after a while of charging, it'll spin.  But the problem is that it'll be gone within two days.

The question is - What parts do i check and/or replace for leaks?  Everyhting (visually) appears fine.  I would assume there are seales leaking, I just don't know where to look for those.

Since the system is completely discharged, if I do replace parts now, can I simply add R134 to charge it back up or does it need to be "vacuumed"?

Thanks for your assistance!

Answer
The most probable fault is the EVAPORATOR of which is quite common. You really need to have your system teated with an electronic leak detector in oreder to find the EXACT component that is leaking.

Continuation of adding freon is totally useless as atmospheric air is enetering the system and there should be NO atmospheric air in the syatem.

T\You need to fix the leaking component, Evactauate the system and then recharge it.
