Question
Hello!I have Nissan Maxima and i have problem with Vent control and canester.I got it diagnosed and the guy told me that I need to change it but i don't know how and what is that. Can you help me with that? Please

Answer
Your charcoal canister is in the back of your vehicle on the driver side. It looks like a square black container, and has hoses towards the front. Its behind the driver rear tire. You can probably change it yourself if you have some mechanical knowledge. If you live where there is snow, and the roads get salted this can be difficult. If you break the mounting bolts the bracket is expensive, and that may cost you more if you try it yourself. A charcoal canister is a device that captures hydro-carbons, and disperses them back into the engine at certain driving conditions. The vent valve is bolted to the charcoal canister. Usually the vent valve is what will fail, but  rust  can cause the canister to crack making it unable to hold pressure. It sounds like your guy knows what he is doing. One last thing if you live where road salt is used check for rust under the fuel cap this can cause a evap leak making the check engine light come on.
