Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: A/C line noise after new hose install, pontiac gtx, orfice tube

Question
I rescently had a new suction hose installed on 98 Pontiac GTX. Now I am hearing noise inside like water pumping -- swishhhh, swishhh, swishhhh. Air works fine, but noise is annoying. Also, after turning A/C off, Noise gets much louder and tapers off after 15 seconds. Mechanic says this is normal? How come I never heard this until after the repair?

Answer
There are a couple of possibilities:

1. The hose that was installed is NOT a GM hose and is usually NOT as thick as a GM hose of which muffles the sound vs a cheaper thinner brand X hose.

2. There may be so atmospheric air in the system. System would need to be evacuated and recharged.

3. System may not have the correct amount of refrigerant (freon) oil and or refrigerant(freon)installed.

4. The ORFICE TUBE may have become contaiminated with debris and needs to be cleaned and or replaced.

5. You can try and wrap the hose with some BLACK pre-formed insulation that is used on hot water pipes in your hose. Any hardware store carries it.

6. Live with the noise. It won't hurt anything except your nerves.
