Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: Heater fan, ford taurus, heater fan

Question
I have a 2001 Ford Taurus, recently the heater fan stopped working. After I pulled the fan out and replaced it I only have the highest speed working on the fan. Replaced the fan control switch, still the same problem. What am I missing?

Answer
Whenever the THERMAL LIMITER RESISTOR ASSEMBLY fails the blower fan DEFAULTS to HIGH blower ONLY.

Contact your nearest Ford dealer and ask for the PARTS DEPARTMENT and tell them you need a:

THERMAL LIMITER RESISTOR ASSEMBLY of which controls the speeds of your blower motor. This part is very simple, 2 screws usually to replace and 10 minutes of work.

Once you purchase the part, You will know what you are looking for. It is usually located near the blower motor.
