GMC Repair: oil pan gasket repair, pan gasket, gasket repair

Question
What is the recommended way to change oil pan gasket on a 1998 2500 4x4 7.4 ?  I thought it was rear main until I got it tranny and fly wheel out .  It coming from the rear of the pan and the block. Can you take pan off without pulling motor? Thanks Roger

yes you can pull the pan with out pulling the motor u might have to pull one motor mount and raide the eng a couple inches this is not bad compared to some . good luck to u and if you need more help just let me know please rate my serivice pete
