Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: 89 taurus heater core, nuts bolts, heater core

Question
I can not get the heater cor out of my 89 taurus.Any tips to help with the process would be much appreciated.

Answer
Does it appear that there is a possibility that you did NOT remove all the nuts/bolts from the heater core casing ?.

I have seen this problem numerous times.

1. You removed ALL of the nuts for heater core mounting bolts from inside the engine compartment, Right ?.

Here is what the factory does.

They install the heater core housing from inside the car and the bolts protrude thru the firewall and then they install the nuts from within the engine compartment so as to secure the heater box to the firewall.

Then they mount the Heater core/ A-C evaporator plastic housing onto these same blts and install a SECOND nut to hold the Heater core/ A-C evaporator plastic housing to the firewall.

Therefore you have to remove the Heater core/ A-C evaporator plastic housing in order to see the SECOND nut that holds the heater core housing from inside the car.

Thus you have TWO nuts on the same bolts.
