Auto Air Conditioning & Heater Repair: airconditioning 2000 dodge dakota, dodge dakota, ac system

Before I left for a 6 month cruise for the Navy my AC in my 2000 Dodge Dakota blew cool air.  Now that I am back after 2 1/2 months it will not even come on.  When I select AC nothing happens.  One question I have is, if the system is low on freon, will the AC system still come on?  WHere should I check first?

If there is a refrigerant (freon) leak of one or more of the A/C components, The compressor will not engage if the freon has leaked out.

You will need to have it tested using a manifold set (A/C gages) to see how much pressure is in the system.
