QuestionThis might sound crazy, but my hood on an old Honda had to be replaced. The hood was ordered by my local mom and pop shop. When it arrived, the owner said the color nearly matched my car perfectly and he felt I could go without it being primed and painted. I know, I know, I was very stupid. I also know he should be doing the work, BUT, I don't want to go back to the shop. The owner is about 90 years old and I don't want to go through the hassle. Now, the entire hood has surface rust. My two choices are to try to fix it myself OR, start over and get a new hood for $500. I really don't want to do that.

Without physically seeing the hood it's hard to say if it's fixable or not, I would say that it probably is, but the real question is, Is it worth fixing? Repair materials can be pretty expensive as well so it may be better if you research buying another hood, either a genuine OEM or aftermarket hood.
As to whether or not you can fix it, I would say that it's possible depending on your skill level. If you're the type person who likes to try new things and you don't mind getting your hands dirty you can probably make it look better than it does now. I hope this helps.
