Auto body repair & detailing: Round indentation, oldsmobile delta 88, wheel lug nuts

On the front quarter panel of my 1966 Oldsmobile Delta 88 there's a 6" diameter round indentation (the paint is intact), and only about 1/8" deep.  How can I work that indentation out?  I have access to the backside of that area with the removal of a chrome piece up front.

Hi Carl!    You can try this a few different ways. First, from the top side, the quickest and easiest way, would be to try using a suction cup. Also, there is a paintless dent removal kit, which glues on a tab that you can use to pull out the dent also. This will set you back a few dollars though. From the back side, you can push the dent out, using an autobody dolly or body hammer head. Try just pushing on the dent first without actually hitting it. If you have limited success, lightly tapping or "Bumping" and messaging the dent out should help. If these tools are not available, you can also use the flat side of a ball peen hammer. Be sure not to use anything too sharp or pointed, as this will result in a protrusion in the metal, or high spot, possibly cracking the paint. Which ever method you decide to use, ( other than the suction cup ), start working the dent from the outer edge toward the center, also, using a star pattern. ( The same as you would when torquing a set of wheel lug nuts ). Hope this helps..Any additional questions, please write me back.....Thanks.....Dave
