Small Engines (Lawn Mowers, etc.): ranch king riding lawn mower, air compression, starter fluid

Question
I have a riding lawn mower that won;t stay running, one day I was just mowing and it quit on me I blew out the gas line put new gas in the tank, cleaned the carc many times. if iI give it a shot of starter fluid it fires up but then dies secound after? is it not getting enough air compression?

Answer
Hi Joel,
If it runs on starting fluid, that tells me it's a fuel delivery problem. What brand engine is it? (B&S, Tecumseh, Kohler?)It sounds like a jet is stopped up. Does it have a wire going to the bottom of the carb? If it does, it may be a bad fuel solenoid. Let me know and we'll go further.
Thanks,
Keith
