Auto body repair & detailing: Rocker panels, lincoln town car, liquid glass

Question
Hello, I just found the most perfect 1990 lincoln town car.  It has been garage kept and is in pristine condition.  The only thing is the bottom rocker panels which seem to be of a plastic are fading and a little brittle.  I tried to use a polish on them  (liquid glass) it did not help any at all.  Any ideas what I should use to clean them and bring them back to life?  Thanks for your answer

Dave

Answer
Hello Dave

Well, first off, 'Liquid Glass'is a clear coat protector, if it's the type we use, and is designed to be a cutting compound. The fading can be minimized, if not eliminated,  with a cutting compound and a buffing machine. The 'brittleness' you mention may be a sign that you need to replace the lower body kit. If you decide to replace them you can get them aftermarket on line.
Hope this helps.
