Question -
I have a dodge truck a 95 an the clear is starting to chip on the hood. I would like to know how to repair it.I have every thing to work with.I want to do a good job,it's just a small spot. THANKS BILL

Answer -
Feather sand area with 320 grit sand paper and prime it. After the primer dries feather sand primer area with 400 grit sand paper make it smooth. Then if you want to paint the whole hood scuff the entire hood with a 3M gray scuff pad and water with some 3M scuff paste. Dry off hood and mask to paint. If you want to do a blend and not paint the entire hood just scuff around the primer about a foot and mask to paint. You then blend the base-coat just a few inches over the primer. Then clear entire hood or blend the clear with some blending solvent. After the paint is dry (24 hours) you then water sand with 1500 grit and buff. Only water sand if you clear the whole hood.

Answer
If you want to paint entire hood. sand off all the clear coat or down to the factory primer and prime the hood and let dry. Then Water sand with 400 grit and dry and mask to paint or take hood off to paint. You apply 3 coats of base coat or until covered. Then let dry 15 minutes and apply clear coat 2 coats. You then water sand with 1500 grit and buff to a fine factory shine.
