Auto body repair & detailing: Repair vs. Replace, auto body shops, skin image

Question
I've been to 4 auto body shops. Some shops want to replace rear bumper, quarter panel, and rear door skin (image of damages attached).  Others say all 3 are repairable.  A couple places defended their method of choice because it would reduce the potential for future rust.  So, I've heard completely conflicting stories.  All cost will be covered by the other party's insurance, so charge doesn't matter to me.  I just would like to know which is the better option in the long run?  Repair or replace?  Thanks!

Answer
Hello Katie
The rule of thumb with respect to you question is to balance the cost of the new parts against the cost of the repairs. If the difference is marginal,  then replacement would be the way to go. This 'future rust' thing should not be factored in . That is a workmanship issue. Now, since the insurance company is picking up the tab, run your concerns by the adjuster or estimator . The insurance company normally doesn't factor in costs, first and foremost is the insured and that's you.
Hope this helps.
