Auto body repair & detailing: Oxidized Paint, speed buffer, chemical composition

Question
I started to buff out some bad paint on my truck using a high speed buffer and a 2ND product it came out great but slowly began to turn white, did it again the same thing can you tell me what i did wrong and how to get the shine back

Answer
You did nothing wrong- the paint is decaying. When something oxidizes, it's changing chemical composition- under the surface, the problem is still going on, even if you bulldoze a shine onto it with a high speed. Half your shine was the oils in the polishing and wax compounds- once they evaporate, the shine left. You need the car stripped and refinished. Bill
