Auto body repair & detailing: cutting & polishing, wet sandpaper, resprays

Question
hi guys
my question is after we have completed a bare metal respray we quite often have to sand out dust and insects from the clearcoat however we can allways see the sanded area we use 2000 gT WET&DRY followed by cutting compound and 3 grades of cutting pads and usually cut the whole panel to try to blend in. Based in new zealand we are enthusiastic armatures any advice appreciated

Answer
Hi Keith,,, I hear what you are saying -imperfections are common in all resprays. I use a P3000 wet sandpaper for the final sand out of the dust nibs. You can purchase these as 6" orbital pads for large areas as well. If at all possible -after the sanding, let the paint sit untill the next day to do your polishing this will give the painted finish a chance to breath....Then polish with a good grade polishing system- 3M  - Macquires- etc... This should bring you excellent results ---  I also recommend doing the final polishing on Black by hand -alot of work but nice results ...All the best to you...Kim
